The Sound of LSD

Motions Of Sound
An audiovisual performance by Emanuele Giannini (EMG) and Claude Steiner.
This audiovisual performance is a natural consequence springing from the collaboration between the two artists in the “Harry Bertoia 100th Year Anniversary” project. The tribute box set, released in 2015 by Experiential Recordings, Sonambient and Important Records, included music recorded by EMG with three models in scale of Bertoia’s sound sculptures and a DVD with visual effects produced by visual artist Claude Steiner.
The purpose of the project is to bring to life a new perspective on Harry Bertoia’s sound sculptures through the medium of multimedia disciplines. The viewer has the opportunity to embark on a journey where the sculptures are the trigger and focus of trance-like states enhanced by the peculiar use of visual and sound effects carried out by Claude Steiner and Emanuele Giannini.
Throughout the performance there’s a sense of deep connection to the sculptures’ vibrations created with the use of differently paced visual sequences in loop meant to be projected on avariety of surfaces and screens. The hypnotic and meditative state is further enhanced by the monochrome aesthetics and the slow motions.
